African Capital Alliance (ACA) a private equity firm focused on investing in Nigeria and West Africa, has acquired a majority stake in DWC Drilling Limited, a Nigerian oil and gas service firm that provides land drilling and related services to the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.
DWC Drilling was founded in 2004 by Gregrey Miller, an accomplished oil and gas drilling engineer. At present, it operates two rigs working in the on-shore Nigerian oil fields. The firm is focused on supplying world-class drilling services to clients in an under-developed segment of the oil and gas industry.
In addition to the provision of drilling services to Nigeria-based oil and gas companies, DWC Drilling sees expansion possibilities in providing services to companies in the entire West Africa region. A  fraction of the funds from the ACA’s investment, will be used to create a company that targets the West African markets.
DWC Drilling Limited marks ACA’s third investment in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria. The investment was made through ACA’s Capital Alliance Private Equity II Fund (CAPE II), which was established in May 2005 to capitalize on investment opportunities throughout Nigeria and West Africa. The fund has invested in a range of sectors including financial services, telecommunications, and aviation.
